How Much Money Can I Save With Downloadable Music?

I suppose if I wanted to be difficult, I could answer "How long is a piece of string?!"

After all, the amount of money you can save by listening to downloadable music depends very much on how much you usually spend on music, which downloadable music sites you subscribe to, how many tracks you download each month etc. etc.

After all, with downloadable music often much cheaper and easier to come by than regular CDs it's tempting to download even more music than you'd normally buy. So if you were unlucky (or very passionate about music) you could spend even more money than you usually would!

On the other hand, a subscription to my favourite downloadable music site will set you back less than the cost of a CD per month, with which you can download unlimited tracks and entire albums.

Sure, if you're going to burn these tracks onto CD then it's going to cost a little in terms of blank CDs, and if your fancy takes you, CD labels.

But let's do some simple math here.

Suppose you normally buy 4 CDs a month which is easy to do. You could probably download 4 CDs worth of music from the best downloadable music site and record them onto CD for the cost of just one of those albums from the record store. Saving you 75% off your usual expenditure.

The savings can really add up.

Of course, don't forget to read our music download sites reviews to see which downloadable music site would be the best for you - it depends very much on your tastes.

Some excellent music sites charge more, meaning that your savings may be less. Equally, you could save more as these "top tracks" tend to cost more than the older albums in the record stores.

To get an idea for yourself, of how much you could save with a subscription to my favourite downloadable music site just use the simple, free calculator below.

(The price of a monthly subscription fee to this site was correct at the time of writing this article, and a nominal figure of 50c per blank CD as based on costs from Amazon...)

Just enter the number of albums you buy each month and the average cost per album into the first 2 boxes, then click calculate...
